Greenfield Village:

An Open Air History Museum

So hear me out, Greenfield Village is one of the most awesome places to see history. I mean, at least in our state. The Village as well as the Henry Ford Museum are on the top of my list of favorite places.

The Village is an outdoor museum- a collection of many important historical buildings from across the nation, and even from across the sea. Buildings of all kinds: tiny cabins, one room schoolhouses, to larger homes where affluent historical figures lived, to shops and storefronts. Furnished according to their time period and location, these homes are like a snapshot from the past and include their wonderful stories within their walls. People like Thomas Edison, The Wright Brothers, Henry Ford, Noah Webster, and Abraham Lincoln walked through these homes, storefronts, and laboratories at some point in time. How cool is that?

The Village and The Museum always keep me coming back because of their atmosphere and wonder, I can’t even imagine how many times I’ve been there, but one of my favorite times at the Village is Civil War Weekend. The Civil War has been a historical event that has always interested me, and having re-enactors live within the Village for that weekend is one of the best times to go.
